Network connected embedded devices, aka Internet of Things, have become a comidity item that almost everyone has in their homes nowawdays. From our WiFi-connected Sous Vide to the mobile app controlled robotic vacuum, these devices have made a presence in many of our homes. As a Penetration Tester, we have tested many of these home as well as commercial IoT devices. We take a look at the security posture of these devices from a hardware, software, as well as network perspective. In this talk we'll speak at a high level of what the methodology looks like when performing an IoT penetration test as well as many common flaws we look for when tearing in to an IoT device.
