John Skaarup is a Senior Analyst at Texas Health and Human Services. He worked previously as the Information Security Officer for the Department of Aging and Disability Services, and prior to that, as a Senior Security Analyst at the Texas Education Agency. He is a graduate from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio with a Bachelors in Business Management and Information Systems. In his personal time, he’s an active member of the Austin Chapter of InfraGuard and the Capitol of Texas Chapter of ISSA, serves as the Senior Vice-Commander of Round Rock Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9078, and is working with Round Rock ISD to incorporate CyberSecurity Awareness to K-12 students. John retired from a 20-year Army career in Armored Cavalry in January of 2006.
