Herding Cats, Not Driving Cattle, Developing a Common Risk Reporting Framework Across a Diverse System
Date & Time
Tuesday, March 10, 2020, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Over the past 18 months the University of Texas (UT) System office of Information Security worked with a third party (Baker Tilly) and institutional representatives to develop a risk report template that is used at each institution to rate 18 common categories of risk, describe mitigation strategies and provide a reference guide about the institution's information assets.  The institutional reports are then 'rolled up' in a presentation to the UT Board of Regents.  The first roll up was presented in November 2019.  This presentation describes both the process of developing the template and the content of the template.  The template is now the basis of the Annual Report that satisfied the TAC 202 requirement.
