Jennifer Buaas is the Deputy Chief Technology Officer at the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) where she is responsible for assisting agencies in the adoption of digital technology to automate processes, modernize legacy technology, and heighten the digital maturity of the workforce. Since 2005, she has served in several roles including Director of Engineering, Director of Digital Government, and as product owner of the State of Texas digital assistant Texas by Texas (TxT). In 2021, she was appointed to the Work Group on Blockchain Matters. She is a past board member of the Texas Association of State Systems Computing and Communication organization. Buaas received a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from LeTourneau University. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Executive Leadership in Information Technology Excellence class and of the Governor’s Center for Management program.
