Description

Recent cybersecurity incidents such as SolarWinds, Microsoft Exchange, and the Colonial Pipeline incident are a sobering reminder that U.S. public and private sector entities increasingly face sophisticated malicious cyber activity from both nation-state actors and cybercriminals. We have not seen any decrease in the sophistication and frequency of incidents. In fact, concern over cyber-attacks has increased given geopolitical tensions over Ukraine and Russia.  We continue to apply a 20th-century approach to a 21st-century problem. We need to more effectively leverage the tools and sources we have and begin to work collectively on cyber defense. We've learned from 20th-century disasters such as the September 11th attacks, that critical security challenges require unprecedented collaboration among stakeholders: peer companies, vendors, suppliers, customers, researchers, and government.   In this session, Paul Kurtz, an internationally recognized expert on cybersecurity and a co-founder of TruSTAR (acquired by Splunk) shares how his work in intelligence analysis, counterterrorism, critical infrastructure protection, and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction influences his approach to cybersecurity. Specifically, the need to build a cloud-based automated exchange platform that addresses barriers to sharing information — bureaucratic, legal, and market risk and concerns — while providing immediate value to operators defending networks.  Seating is limited. We look forward to connecting with you!
