Description

People and data are two of the greatest assets to any organization. In today’s modern workplace, making sure that we attract and retain the best employees along with securing and protecting sensitive data and critical systems are top of mind for every agency, city, county, and education organization in the great State of Texas. Ensuring employees are digitally empowered to provide the best service while helping to improve cybersecurity and user experience are big challenges with legacy networks. The old castle and moat security architecture worked well when users applications were in office locations but with many key applications moved to the cloud, and employees tasked to provide these services from anywhere, it was essential to address a more effective enterprise architecture to better serve the changing data center and workplace.   In 2019 Gartner published the first report on a method of modernizing to address the shifting landscape. With a focus on improving cybersecurity for users and applications, improving user-experiences, simplifying operations, and better business continuity with a framework they named Secure Access Service Edge or SASE (pronounced “SaSSY”).   This session will explore the components of the Gartner SASE framework and break it down into simple and understandable bites in a practical method to help organizations across Texas adopt some, or all, of this framework to insure our modern/hybrid-workforce is empowered, secure and compliant, and have the best user-experience to be as productive as possible.
