Description

Russell Ezzell (RSOC Manager) and Leigh Rasberry (Training Coordinator) will present how the ASU RSOC is leading DIR/CC efforts to train a capable cyber workforce for Texas. The students enter our program at 18 or 19 years old and graduate college 4 years later with a 4 year degree, an industry recognized cybersecurity certification, and a year or more of experience in a live SOC environment. They are landing on their feet in the tech industry in both public and private organizations because their resume's go straight to the top of the pile. 1. Establish the need we are trying to meet and the challenges we face with what young people are learning in their K-12 education. 2. Discuss the methods by which we build foundational knowledge in Information Technology and Cybersecurity practices. 3. Demonstrate how we place these trained student analysts in a live SOC environment to provides a desperately needed cybersecurity service to the citizens of West Texas.
