While the media focuses on cybersecurity incidents impacting large, publicly traded companies, public institutions are now the prime targets for cyber criminals. At the same time, recent history has shown us that schools and other publicly-funded agencies need to take campus safety seriously. Dealing with such pressures often leaves these budget-strapped organizations overwhelmed and woefully unprotected.

 

But there are bright spots in the market. Advance machine learning and threat protection technology once reserved for Enterprise-level budgets have hit the mainstream and are being applied to the largely underserved and vulnerable SLED market.

 

In Cloud Security Solutions for Public Institutions: The Role of Technology in Cybersecurity & Safety, we’ll take a look at how IT leaders can layer their tech stack to secure both data and people. The presentation will provide an overview of the differences between cybersecurity and cyber safety, and why cloud security is so important to organizations using Google G Suite and/or Microsoft Office 365. We’ll then discuss the most common cloud security solution categories: Cloud Application Security, Content Filtering, Network Firewalls and Campus Safety Management. Participants will then learn from case studies in which real Municipal Government and K-12 school districts have applied this technology infrastructure to secure sensitive data, defend against malware and phishing threats, and protect students from safety incidents.

Participants will leave this session with a deeper understanding of the differences between cybersecurity and cyber safety, and why both areas are important to the wellbeing of employees and/or students. They will have a better understanding of where their organization’s security gaps are, and the variety of tools available to them to help fix those gaps.
