With 26 years of security and leadership experience, and 11 years of service working for the State of Texas, Jeremy Wilson is the Deputy CISO for Security Operations in the Office of the Chief Information Security Office at the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR). In this role, Jeremy has been responsible for establishing a pilot Regional Security Operations Center (RSOC) at Angelo State University, 2 additional RSOC at the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and overseeing this program as it expands and grows to cover the state. In addition, Jeremy heads DIR’s Cybersecurity Incident Response Team, which is responsible for responding to cybersecurity incidents, establishing incident response playbooks, coordinating cybersecurity exercises, and performing threat intelligence across the state. Jeremy and his team manage DIR’s Volunteer Incident Response Team, which has over a hundred members with cybersecurity, IT and other response skills to help respond to significant security incidents occurring across Texas.

In addition to State of Texas roles at both DIR and the Texas Department of Public Safety, Jeremy has held security, telecommunications, and IT roles in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, and the Texas Army National Guard. He served as an Airborne Ranger in 2nd Ranger Bn and 75th Ranger Regiment, and is an Operations Iraqi Freedom III Veteran, retired as a Major after 25 years of total service as an enlisted and commissioned officer. Jeremy has been with the State of Texas in Cybersecurity since 2013 and holds CISSP, CISM, CRISC, and Security + Certifications.
