Description

Dawson County continues to advance its cybersecurity maturity by strategically leveraging the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP). After using last year’s assessment to identify foundational gaps, we have now shifted toward operationalizing those insights—strengthening governance, improving visibility, and enabling data driven decision making across county leadership. With SLCGP funded tools, our IT team can now translate complex cybersecurity data into clear, actionable insights. Advanced analytics and visualization software allow us to produce dashboards, risk heat maps, and posture forecasts that make cybersecurity understandable for non-technical leaders. These visuals highlight our highest risk areas, demonstrate the impact of planned mitigation strategies, and support more informed financial and operational decisions. One of our grant funded tools analyzes our security posture and evaluates our budget to recommend future projects that will have the greatest impact, using AI. This session will show how Dawson County is using SLCGP resources to move from assessment to measurable improvement, communicate risk more effectively, and secure the support needed to strengthen long term resilience.
